The skills and insights of an experienced marketing executive without the commitment and expense of a full-time CMO.
Mark has led marketing and product management for small to medium sized B2B businesses in cybersecurity software (SaaS), telecom equipment, advertising technology, and industrial automation. Most recently, he led the digital marketing practice at a full-service marketing agency.
We thrive on finding creative solutions to gnarly business problems. Our passion is helping launch and grow new business, but no business is too large or too small for us. For example, we recently helped launch a pre-funding cybersecurity startup and developed a strategic communications program for a multi-billion dollar cloud software company.
Mark started his career as an electrical engineer (BSEE from NCSU), and worked in digital circuit design for over a decade before moving into product management and ultimately strategic marketing. This gives him a unique ability to quickly grasp new technologies, truly understand your business, and develop your strategic plan.
When he's not helping clients accelerate their growth, Mark likes to mountain bike, play music, build stuff, adventure race, make and drink good beer, cook and eat good food. He is passionate about his family, living, loving, laughing and learning.
Not everyone needs or can afford a full-time Chief Marketing Officer.
You could be an early-stage start-up or have other economic constraints that make this an attractive model - in this case, an ongoing part-time arrangement can deliver the benefits of experience and expertise without incurring full-time salary and overhead costs. This gives you the flexibility to manage your resources, while building a solid platform for maximizing customer acquisition, experience, and growth.
Many young organizations need to develop their initial go-to-market strategy, establish a few key marketing programs and create a near-term execution plan. In this case a fractional CMO can - in a limited engagement - help you uncover and craft your value proposition, messaging, and branding; establish a performance metric framework; identify team roles, accountabilities, development plans and even hire, train and initially manage the team.
Sometimes you just need some outside help developing and launching a critical new initiative that has been stalled due to resource constraints. It could be that you need to develop an internal stakeholder communication plan, launch a podcast program, establish a content marketing calendar, or bring sales and marketing together to create a full-blown account based marketing program. An experienced fractional CMO can step in, own the project, and quickly deliver results.
Organizations with a temporary vacancy in marketing leadership can't wait too long to fill the void. Doing so would increase the risk losing their best talent and jeopardize the execution of crucial marketing programs , A fractional CMO can step in temporarily to provide you with an experienced, heavy-weight CMO on an interim basis so you can take your time identifying a permanent, full-time marketing leader or delay the hire until circumstances are more favorable.
